The practice, often ordered by Federal Courts under the guise of "desegregation", results in the disenfranchisement of the public and misuse of taxpayer education funds. NANS promotes the neighborhood school concept as a vital environment for good education and stable, liveable communities. NANS is in agreement with the 1964 Civil Rights Act description of desegregation as assignment to schools and within such schools without regard to race or national origin and recognizes racial/ ethnic/ socioeconomic control of student assignment as unconstitutional. NANS seeks congressional action limiting the Federal Courts to orders which do not violate the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment of the U.S. constitution or the 1964 Civil Rights Act and seeks state legislation or constitutional amendments prohibiting racial/ethnic/socioeconomic control of student assignment within the state.
School
children must no longer be used for social
experimentation and racial and nationality control.
The purpose of this organization
is to bring an end to such control and its accompanying
forced busing and to promote neighborhood schools which
facilitate parental participation, community pride and
support, safety and proper use of education dollars.
We believe in local control of
schools by elected school boards. Through their control of school districts federal judges have ordered levies imposed, told elected officials how they must vote and have even stripped authority from duly elected officials. Does this sound like something that should happen in America? It all starts when a court orders a school district to "desegregate" its schools and issues a "remedial" order. But the "remedial" orders do not remedy. They are destructive. Once a court take-over is accomplished, all manner of additional orders are handed down which require billions of dollars to be diverted from education and upkeep of facilities and equipment. The door is then open for other social engineering mischief. While attention
continues to be focused on federal court take-overs, it
is increasingly important
to watch what is happening at the state level to impose
racial/ethnic-balance forced busing plans through state law and policy.
