About

Dr. Shervin Rahimpour is a stereotactic and functional neurosurgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of epilepsy, movement disorders (including Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, and dystonia), chronic pain syndromes (such as trigeminal neuralgia, brachial plexus avulsion pain, and cancer-related pain), and psychiatric disorders (depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and Tourette’s syndrome). He is experienced in advanced surgical techniques, including focused ultrasound, asleep deep brain stimulation (DBS), robotic-assisted surgery, laser ablation, stereo-encephalography (SEEG), dorsal root entry zone lesioning (DREZ), and minimally invasive treatments for pain management, such as trigeminal rhizotomy, radiosurgery, and percutaneous ablations. Dr. Rahimpour’s research, supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), focuses on leveraging intracranial human recordings to better understand cortical-subcortical interactions involved in neurological diseases and human behavior. Through this research, he aims to enhance clinical outcomes by improving the understanding of underlying neural mechanisms. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Colorado and completed his neurosurgical residency and fellowship training at Duke University. Outside of his professional activities, Dr. Rahimpour enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the outdoors, and photography.
